CRVENE GUMENE CIZME

RED RUBBER BOOTS
by Jasmila Zbanic
Country: Bosnia and Herzegovina
Year: 2000
Duration: 18'

Jasna P. is searching for her two children, Amar (4 years old) and Ajla (9 months old) who were killed by the Serbian Army during the war in Bosnia and buried in a mass grave. With the help of the State Commission for Searching Missing Person, Jasna is checking all available information and ispecting all mass grave sites, hoping to find the red rubber boots that her son was wearing when he was abducted and taken from her.

"Before dawn I dreamt I had long, long hair and a beard. My whole face was covered with hair, and trough it I stared at the pit. What if Jasna discovers the red rubber boots in the pit today? Will she survive? And what if she doesn't find them?" (Jasmila Zbanic).
