In 1974 Alan Ripley is working as a lifeguard on the beach of a very beautiful Miami hotel. The youth falls in love with Ella, the young wife of a rich New York businessman. At the end of the vacation, the woman puts an end to her fling, but Alan decides to follow her to New York. Ella tells everything to her husband. He is overcome by jealousy and manages to have the suitor arrested. Alan goes to jail, where he is seriously wounded and disfigured by some inmates on the millionaire's payroll. Thirteen years later Alan takes up a new identity and returns to New York to get revenge.

Paul Schrader
Paul Schrader (Grand Rapids, Michigan; 1946) is one of the most important American directors and screenwriters. His first screenplay was Yakuza (1975), directed by Sydney Pollack. He began his association with Martin Scorsese with the screenplay of Taxi Driver (1976) and Raging Bull (1980), to be followed by The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), and Bring Out the Dead (1999). Blue Collar (1978) marked his debut as a director. Forever Mine is his thirteenth feature film.
