Country: France
Year: 1978

In April, 1978, Gilbert Trigano asked Jacques Tati to go to Corsica to film the preparations for the first round of the U.E.F.A. soccer championship final at the Furiani stadium. The Bastia team was playing against the Dutch team PSV Eindhoven. This was a first time ever event for the island and Bastia was ready to celebrate victory.

Biography

film director

Jacques Tati

Jacques Tati (1908-1982) was one of the most original and independent figures of post-war cinema in France. A master of the farce and a consummate juggler of cinematographic language, he has been hailed as the heir of the great Max Linder. His most famous creation, Monsieur Hulot, is a lunatic character which Tati has interpreted in four consecutive films. Forza Bastia is an unreleased documentary which has been restored by Cinémathèque de Corse.
