Diana, a Latin American student, follows her brother who works out in a boxing gym. The young woman is fascinated by the world of boxing and wants to express her own aggressiveness, so she asks to train. However, her father does not agree to pay for her lessons. After she overcomes her economic hurdles, Diana joins the gym and is taken care of by Hector, a trainer who immediately notices the woman's talent. Adrian, an amateur boxer who wants to become a professional, gets interested in her even though he is engaged. The two end up clashing in the ring.

Karyn Kusama
Karyn Kusama (St. Louis, Missouri; 1968) graduated in film studies at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Her thesis film there, Sleeping Beauties, won the 1991 Mobil award. Girlfight is her first feature film and won an award at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
