Pasolini chose the actors for his film Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma by taking them "off the street", as usual. He had to find people who were willing to represent the humiliation of the body, the annihilation of the person. The screen tests of Salò made a strong impression on spectators because of their lucidity and their violence. These screen tests were repeated on aspiring actors today, young men and women who were later followed around in their everyday lives on the outskirts of Rome in a true study of the homologation of bodies and lives which Pasolini denounced with the atrocities of his last film.
