Set in Coney Island, this is the story of four people of modest means who dream of better lives. Sara Goldfarb is a widow who aspires to compete in a television quiz show. Her son Harry, his girlfriend Marion, and his friend Tyrone try to set up their own business - a boutique - but things don't seem to be going so well. Despite all this, the three do not give up hope.

Darren Aronofsky

Darren Aronofsky was born and raised in Brooklyn, he studied animation cinema at Harvard University and graduated in 1991 with the short film Supermarket Sweep, which was a finalist at the Student Academy Awards. In 1998 he founded Protozoa Pictures with Eric Watson, and made his first full-length film, , which won a prize for direction at the Sundance Film Festival. The film made the Top 10 list in 1998 in numerous American newspapers, including the "Chicago Sun-Times", the "Washington Post" and the "Seattle Times". At present he is working on the screenplay of his next film.
