Saïda is the sister of Amine, a thirteen-year-old boy who comes from a family of modest means. Saïda has been raped and the shock has made her mute. Kenza, their older sister, works as a maid for a well-known lawyer, Hamid Boussif. The man is running for election, but the behavior of his son Hicham might compromise his election campaign. Kenza and Amine know that it was Hicham who raped Saïda but the lawyer, who knows this as well, has threatened Kenza. Amine plots revenge.

«There are silences that are reassuring and tranquillizing because we want them; others bother us, humiliate us and most of the time are imposed on us. These are the silences of shame, fear; men and women retire and bury themselves in those silences; then there are the unpunished outrages by the man who is stronger because of the right of power. Tresses talks about that, and addresses all the people troubled by those silences and astonished at the impunity» (Jillali Ferhati).
