18° TORINO FILM FESTIVAL
Italian Spotting 2000

Troppolitani (speciale footing - speciale psicofarmaco)

THE TOOPOLITANS (SPECIAL ON JOGGING, SPECIAL ON MIND-ALTERING DRUGS)

Country: Italy
Year: 2000
Duration: 59'

These are "freestyle wrestling" interviews with the fictitious and instantaneous interactions typical of extremely crowded places. People answer questions in normal places (such as stations, race tracks, and cemeteries) in a most frankly abnormal way. The interviewer attracts all those who have something to say, or more simply, all those whose curiosity has been aroused by an interesting event. There is a gathering together of urban corners against the background of a Rome in transformation, a symbol of confusion inhabited by a sometimes primitive and other-times miraculously evolved population.
