Valerio Jalongo
In 1985, Valerio Jalongo graduated in philosophy and directed Il
Volo, an episode of the film Juke-box, that was made in
collaboration with Daniele Luchetti and Carlo Carlei as their graduating
film from the Gaumont School of Cinema. He studied in the USA and
received a Master of Arts in Cinema from the University of Southern
California with Dream City (1988), which won the Premio Vittorio
De Sica, among others. After returning to Italy he taught
cinematographic language at the Istituto Professionale di Stato per il
Cinema a la TV and in 1996 directed his first full-length film,
Messaggi Quasi Segreti (Spaghetti Slow). He then directed
the made for TV film Il Caso Bebawi (1996) and in 1998
collaborated on the screenplay and directing of the miniseries
Torniamo a Casa. At present, he works as a screenwriter and
teaches at the Accademia Internazionale dell'Immagine and at the Roman
prison, Rebibbia.
