In 1996, twenty spools of unedited material shot by John Ford for The Searchers were found in the Warner Bros. archives. Nick Redman, with the help of producer Brian Jamieson, went through the material and edited it, including interviews of John Milius and Patrick Wayne (John Wayne's son). The result is a portrait of John Ford and John Wayne, captured in one of the peak moments of their collaboration

Nick Redman
Nick Redman was born in England. He has produced and directed numerous documentaries about cinema. The Wild Bunch: An Album in Montage (1996), which he produced but which was directed by Paul Seydor, won an Oscar nomination as best documentary. The next year he worked on Basil Poledouris: His Life and Music by Michael Rosendale. A Turning of the Earth - John Ford, John Wayne & "the Searchers" is the first film he directed, which was recently followed by From Dollars to Donuts: An Undressing of the First Nudie Musical (2002).
