A supermarket in an anonymous city. A man and a women meet near the shopping carts. They walk down the detergent aisle and, for one evening, become a couple that has been brought together by chance, like any couple. They each return to their own life, and tell their story.
"This film tells the story of a chance couple and becomes the metaphor for every union. With its paradoxical tone and simple directing style, made of looks into the camera and dictionary definition, it shows how casual an encounter can be. The slip in temporal planes emphasizes two different ways of living a sexual relationship, the two parts of the couple are pulled away from each other in the narration and brought close together by destiny, the victims of an emotional fortuitousness that is bigger than the two of them" (P. Genovese).
