Dogtown and Z-Boys

Dogtown and Z-Boys

Country: USA
Year: 2002
Duration: 90'

Dogtown, located between Santa Monica and Venice, looked very disreputable and rundown during the 1970's. Jeff Ho, Skip Engblom and Craig Stecyk created the Zephyr Skating Team here. The three young men were the owners of a surf store which soon attracted many teenagers, who preferred hanging out there rather than staying at home. The teens soon started skateboarding on the streets of Dogtown, in the school courtyards and in abandoned swimming pools. The Zephyr Skating Team participated in many competitions, and became famous for their innovative and acrobatic style. This documentary reconstructs the amazing adventure of skateboarding and the "Dogtown style" by means of photographs, repertory material and interviews.
