The Year 2000. As the new millennium begins, the director decided to shoot a long documentary in twelve capitals in the twelve months. The film takes us in twelve different countries, where we can observe the daily lives of people who are very different from each other. This is the film calendar: Niger (January), Finland (February in Lapland), Namibia (March), Indonesia (April), Greenland (May), Australia (June), India (July), Russia (August in Siberia), China (September), Italy (October in Sardinia), Canada (November), Micronesia (December).

Nikolaus Geyrhalter

Nikolaus Geyrhalter was born in Vienna in 1972. He got a very early start as a documentary film maker, directing numerous works which have received international critical interest and participated at many festivals. Das Jahr nach Dayton (1997) was awarded prizes at the Biennale, the festival in Berlin and at the Cinéma du RÈel (Prix Joris Ivens). In 1999, his film Pripyat won the prize as best documentary at the European Film Awards and received a recognition at the San Francisco festival. Elsewhere was successfully presented at the documentary festival in Amsterdam.
