The major São Paulo film of silent cinema, from a story by O'Henry. San Paolo is a growing metropolis. In a construction site a workman is dying after an accident, he begs his young son to find an honest job. But his advice isn't followed and when the boy grows up he finds himself in bad company. In order to take refuge from the winter cold, he unsuccessfully tries to get himself arrested. After realizing his efforts are useless, he decides to do as his father asked. But right after making this decision he is arrested. The newspapers reported his committing suicide in his cell. "In the Belair films there is a perception of all Brazilian cinema of the past, the Recife cycle, a bit of Fragmentos da Vida, some clichés of the chanchada and the musical films of Cinédia" (J. Bressane).
