Jake Van Dorn is an industrialist in a small town. His wife left him long before because of his closed and authoritarian personality and suddenly Jake's daughter, Kristen, leaves him, too. The private investigator Andy Mast is hired to find the girl. Mast locates a pornographic film starring Kristen and plays it for Jake. Thanks to a friendship that develops with Nicki, a prostitute, Jake finds places and people connected with his daughter's flight and new profession. He finds her and after a violent fight, manages to convince her to come away with him. Andy Mast is protecting Jake without his knowing it…

Paul Schrader

Paul Schrader (Grand Rapids, Michigan; 1946) is one of the most important American directors and screenwriters. His first screenplay was Yakuza (1975), directed by Sydney Pollack. He began his association with Martin Scorsese with the screenplay of Taxi Driver (1976) and Raging Bull (1980), to be followed by The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), and Bring Out the Dead (1999). Blue Collar (1978) marked his debut as a director. Forever Mine is his thirteenth feature film.
