Il fiore

An elderly artists paints portraits of the tourists in Piazza Navona, but once they are finished nobody buys them because they don't bear any resemblance to the person posing. Actually, the painter is a financial advisor who works for a real estate company and the face he paints is always that of his woman, who waits for him at home until late at night. The woman is mortally ill and is dying. One night, as she sleeps, the painter gives her the most beautiful painting of his life.

"Il fiore is based on a story by O. Henry, an American author who died in 1910. The story has been told to me, I have never read it. And I wasn't even able to discover the original title" (Antonio Tozzi).
