The film is set in Borinage at the end of the 20^th century. The mines have been closed and Wallonie's other economic life-saver, the steel industry, has also slid into decline. Local industry's glory days are a thing of the past. For decades now, most of the local councils have been run by descendants of the workers' movement. Have social inequalities disappeared? As a local film maker, Patrick Jean wanted to find out, and so he set off on foot, camera in hand, for places that few people choose to go to.
