Evert and Bertil Gustavsson are two fifty-year-old brothers who live in a forest in southern Sweden. They are carpenters and also repair machinery used for cutting wood. One day they learn that some of their machinery, which was sold years before to a humanitarian organization in Zambia, has broken down. Without hesitation, Evert and Bertil leave for Africa.

"When my carpentry shop burnt down, I decided to use the insurance money to make this film. It came out differently from what I'd imagined" (J. Palmgren).
