Carolyn McDuffy, a college student, is determined to win the "Sorority of the Year" prize offered by the Greek College where she is enrolled, and suggests to her friends (of the "Alpha Omega Pi" sorority) that they cynically undertake a humanitarian mission: to help a group of physically or mentally handicapped athletes. But when the girl is assigned Pumpkin, her ferocity and opportunism melt away in front of the young man's goodness. Despite the disdain of her friends, her boyfriend and even Pumpkin's mother, Carolyn follows her heart...

"I used to live near Greek Row. I wasn't enrolled in college and was often marginalized by those who were. I would stay by myself and watch the daily rites of the Greeks, one of which was a sort of charity initiative for disabled youths. This is how the film was born" (A.L. Broder).
