An old lady makes coffee, a man sleeps. He wakes up: he runs in vain
to get the train that quickly leaves in front of him. He would like, he
should leave: he asks to run away. He mimes, he repeats: he attempts
suicide again - his obscure illusion. Other trains go by. In vain.
Silence covers the noise of time: a white and pure light of two waiting
souls (two non-realities?) covers the shadows of things. In the end they
try a dance: they are youth and old age intertwined in a unique loving
hug. Tenderness and obsession are not opposed anymore. This is why she
now leaves. He is still sleeping, maybe he is redeemed, at last. And he
doesn't dream anymore.
"During the lifetime of a human being there are two mysteries: birth and
death. I have tried to narrate the paradox of this reciprocity. The old
lady is a girl, an angel and the secret nightmare that imprisons the
soul of the man. The man (the suicidal person) is the shadow of a dream
where one can see the world and from which one will never wake up.
Between the woman and the man runs a perfect bond that will not break.
This bond is the style of the tale: its light, the cautious silence of
vision" (C. McGilvray).
