A group of detainees, coordinated by a director, participates to a film writing workshop in the prison of Rebibbia. They write scripts about autobiographical stories and characters, testimonies and looks on their lives outside the schemes. They choose a subject that can be realized in jail and decide to start a film that will be written, directed and played by the detainees. But jail reality reserves for them a bitter surprise: one of the workshop's animators, Germano Maccari, dies in his cell like the main character of their script.
