Easy Riders, Raging Bulls: How the Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll Generation Saved Hollywood

Easy Riders, Raging Bulls: How the Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll Generation Saved Hollywood

Country: USA
Year: 2003
Duration: 119

Based on the homonymous book by Peter Biskind, this television documentary describes the New Hollywood of the 1970's: producers directors, actors and screenwriters who, between the end of the 1960's and 1980, the year Martin Scorsese's film Raging Bull was released, changed the face of Hollywood with their more personal and authorial approach to commercial cinema. Bowser makes use of archive material and original interviews of the leaders of the time to follow and study a unique and anomalous moment in the history of American cinema that ended, as Biskind writes, because of the excesses of various directors and, above all, the success of blockbusters like Jaws (Steven Spielberg, 1975) and Star Wars (George Lucas, 1977).
