Jeune femme a sa fenêtre lisant une lettre
by Jean-Claude Rousseau
We don't know what the landscape looks like from the window. A road, a canal, the view of the Delf, maybe the port, it is around the light of the day. The maps stuck on the wall are bigger than paintings and yet we still don't know where we are. The woman is at the window. She is standing and reading a letter. Her gaze on the letter is so intense that she is unaware of the landscape. It could be any landscape, at any place at all on the map.
