Back Home. Notes for a Movie
by Massimo D'Anolfi
Country: Italy
Year: 2003
Duration: 30

A small documentary made in Pescara to tell the story of two people who, when they were very young, had entered the city crime world. Massimo Ballone and Claudio Di Risio, both members of a the ex gang Battestini in the 80's, have made many bank robberies and aggressions. In 1985 they have escaped from Pescara jail in a clamorous way. When they got arrested they have been convicted to a thirty-year sentence. Claudio Di Risio, after twenty years of jail has been released on parole because of an accident and he now has a club in the outskirts of Pescara waiting to be arrested to finish the remaining part of his sentence. Massimo Bellone is still in jail.

"When I was seven, I used to go to the barber to have my hair cut. The barber was near the jail in Pescara. I was there the morning Massimo, Claudio and their friends escaped (...) In one second everything had changed. The streets of San Donato neighbourhood had transformed into a gigantic film location (...) I have decided that if I would ever make a film, this would be the story I wanted to tell, real or fictive, like a dream" (M. D'Anolfi).
