10 jours avec Kiarostami

From September 18 to October 12, 2003, an important manifestation entitled Sulle strade di Kiarostami was held in Torino. All of the Iranian Director's films were projected, including those which had never been released in Iran, and his photographs, videos and poetry were also exhibited. As part of this retrospective, a 10-day video production workshop was organized, in which 25 people under 30 years of age were selected to participate, based on their idea for a short film. Kiarostami was so enthusiastic about the results that he intends to use the material in an up-coming project. The film highlights the essential points of the so-called "Kiarostami method" and shows different moments of the stage: the presentation of the participants (including Kiarostami himself); the first stuttering words; the brain storming phase, in which each person proposed his idea for a short film; the unfinished scenes that were approved by everyone; the story boards which Kiarostami supervised; shooting under the maestro's careful gaze; critique of the shots; advice to simplify everything and make it more credible…

"This is not my first time to visit Torino. I was here before when Alberto Barbera was the Director of the festival, last year I was here for a workshop in Holden School, a wonderful experience wich was earned due to the effort of Mr. Barbera. In this workshop 17 short films wermade during 10 days an dit was a great practice for my next ideal project One Day Shooting. This collection will be shown in this festival this year.
