A documentary film about the three remaining generations of fishermen in the Aral Sea. Their awaiting and everyday struggle to survive in one of the scarcest places on the planet. Life after one of man made biggest disasters.

"It is a film about the process of death and strength and root ness of people connected to their land. Aral doesn't speak about politics or ecology it speaks only about the human survival strength. Ismailova Saodat

Saodat Ismailova graduated from Tashkent State Art Institute video and cinema direction deparment in 2002. Her first video Believe or no Believe won award in the festival Tasvir in Tashkent. From 2002 she spent one year student in Fabrica, research and communication centre of Benetton. Zulfiya (2003) has been selected in severale festivals among which Alpe Adria, Arcipleago and Human rights Festival.

Carlos Casas

Carlos Casas (Barcelona, Spain, 1974) debuted in 2000 with the short Afterwords, which was selected for Venice and Rotterdam. The next year he began his voyages, which became the basis for the documentaries Patagonia, Rocinha - Daylight of a Favela and Aral - Fishing in an Invisible Sea, which received a prize at the Torino Film Festival in 2004. Hunters Since the Beginning of Time is the final chapter of his trilogy of films dedicated to the world’s most extreme environmental conditions. In 2009 he developed a project in collaboration with Arto Lindsay for the 53rd Venice Biennale.
