Young and independent Atreyee leaves Calcutta to make a new life for herself in Bombay. The girl finds a place to live in a suburb and tries to create a solid routine for herself and fit into the community. But the solitude and the alienation of modern life force her to return home and take into consideration the eventuality of a loveless marriage.

Shumona Goel

Shumona Goel studied cinema at Bard College in New York and later specialized in Oriental and African cinema in London at the School of Oriental and African Studies. She is now a producer and Director at Film Republic, a Bombay production house which pays careful attention to developments in the new Oriental cinema.
