A journey through Italian cinema from the end
of the '50 until now, five generations of film directors, from Risi to
Monicelli, Bellocchio, Bertolucci and Taviani; from Moretti to Salvatores; from
Virzì to Giordana, to Muccino and the last thirty-years-old generation: Marra,
Mereu, Sorrentino, Pellegrini, Porporati, interviewed by the author along an
historical itinerary which goes through past and present memory. How, from one
generation to another, from film to film, the "feeling" of being thirty and the
relationship among many thirty-years-old people and their time changes.
"To be thirty, with a camera in your hand, telling about thirty-year-old people
of your time: this is the itinerary followed in this documentary, an ideal
journey in order to meet ten directors who belong to five different generations.
Personal confessions placed by the documentary into a cinematographic space
where they arrive by the synthesis of the events which our country has gone
through in the last 50 years." (G. Taviani)
