Laurent Achard
Laurent Achard (France, 1967) debuted as a director in 1992 with the short film Qu’en savent les morts?, which was followed by Dimanche ou les fantômes (1994) and Une odeur de géranium (1997), which both received awards at the Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival. In 1998, he directed his first feature film, Plus qu’hier, moins que demain, which received the Tiger Award in Rotterdam and the Cyril Collard Award at the Belfort Film Festival that same year. His next short film, La peur, petit chasseur (2004), was presented at the Quinzaine des réalisateurs in Cannes and was nominated for a César. His second feature film, Le dernier des fous, was selected to compete at the 2006 Locarno Film Festival, where it received the award for best director and the Prix Jean-Vigo. Dernière séance also competed in Locarno.
