Country: Austria
Year: 1947
Duration: 84'
A portrait of Austria, going beyond enchanting images of
mountain scenery and Vienna's finest neighbourhoods to reveal the
hardships of working life during the 1930s and the ravages of Nazi
occupation. Most of the film was shot by F.W. Rossak just before the
Anschluss of 1938, but was forbidden from being seen. It was finished
just after the war, with the assistance of Hebert Heidmann using archive
war-time footage and new shots of a country now administered by the
allied forces.
