Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia is getting married. Somewhere else a precious ring, the king's ring, in the hands of Luisa, will soon be stolen by three crooks. But a misunderstanding will be the turning point of the whole story.

"Everybody can have a 'royal day', a special day. This is what the film is about: everybody, including the so-called 'retarded people', has nothing to envy the ones who point a finger at them. We could also use the saying: 'Opportunity makes thief' and besides being a thief, one becomes irresponsible and distracted. A Royal Day has been the most exciting experience of my life, an adventure full of surprises, hard work, fears and a lot of joy." (A. Fava)
