Federico lives on the Lucretili mountains, not far from Rome and Matteo lives in west Liguria. The former looks sulky and of few words, while the latter is always the centre of attention and can't keep still for a moment. Even though they're very different from each other, they are both 8. And both blind. Altri occhi tells the story of their lives with a closer look, with affection but without pity. Until they unexpectedly meet on a film set.

"To those who can see, the world of the blinds has always been a taboo. People live in deep-rooted dread of blindness, thus try to close their eyes to it. But then, when you happen to see a blind man, that fear turns into curiosity, even into malice. In other words, people still try it hard to think of a blind man as a person - just as anybody else. With Altri occhi I wanted to try and touch - if not to break - this taboo. It's a delicate story of two blind kids, quite unlike each other, facing their lives as they are. My documentary has a very close look on them, their gestures and sounds, even the slightest the eyes can catch." (G. Votano)
