23° TORINO FILM FESTIVAL

Les fenêtres sont ouvertes

Country: France
Year: 2005
Duration: 52'

There are many ways to live in a house, many ways to be at home, to stay with one's family. There are memories, traces, archives. Some relatives take us into their homes and the homes lead us to family movies. We returned to these homes, which are so frightening to our characters. They run away from their homes, sometimes they hedge around them as though they were a fantasy, frightened by the reality they hide.

"They asked us to make a television documentary about our parents. We decided to look at the subject through the oblique lines of the different homes of our life: the house we lived in with our parents, the house they live in now and the one they would like to live in. All this means choosing a geographical point of the subject, which leads us to Lourdes, where we were born, to Lisbon, where our father thinks of going to live, by way of Montagna Nera, near Aude, where we own a house now under construction." (A. and J-M. Larrieu)
