No Direction Home: Bob Dylan

No Direction Home: Bob Dylan

Country: USA
Year: 2005
Duration: 201\'

The film concentrates on the crucial period between 1961 and 1966, when Dylan’s fame rose and was consolidated. From young folksinger who loved Woody Guthrie to voice and inspiration of an entire generation with epoch-making albums like Blonde on Blonde.

“I have always been a Dylan fan. I admire his continuous transformations. He’s a fascinating and enigmatic artist who has always stimulated and moved me. Rather than deal with him directly and risk losing my objectivity, I preferred to find the story and let it tell itself without any interference. The main theme is the anger his fans felt when Dylan introduced the electric guitar. Something else that comes through is that impertinent aspect of Dylan’s that has always intrigued me. He even steps back from himself when he says, ‘I don’t know how to self-analyze my songs.’ And I know what he means. A real artist doesn’t let himself be leashed by explanations.” (M. Scorsese)
