The Wayward Cloud

Country: Taiwan
Year: 2005
Duration: 112'

Shiang-Chi, who moved to Paris in What Time Is It Over There?, returns to Taipei and finds the city in the throes of a major drought. One day she runs into Hsiao-Kang, the watch seller from the previous movie, who now works as an actor in pornographic films, which are shot near Shiang-Chi's home. As dreamlike musical sequences transport the girl to a colorful and fantastic dimension, her apartment becomes a refuge of strange characters.
"I was interested in exploring the identity issue of these individuals who are caught between two worlds. There are many foreign laborers who lose their work rights in Taiwan and can't go back to their own home countries. They are stuck in between two dimensions. The same idea goes for porn actors. They live double lives as porn actors and normal people. The Wayward Cloud is about the emotional life of these characters. This is not a porn movie. This is a movie about human emotions." (Tsai Ming-liang)
