Broken Trail

Broken Trail

Country: Canada
Year: 2006
Duration: 184'

At the end of the 19th century, the old cowboy Print Ritter and his nephew Tom Harte undertake an exhausting trip from eastern Oregon to Wyoming, to sell a heard of horses. During the travel, the two men come across a dishonest dealer who is accompanying 5 unwitting Chinese girls who have been sold by their families to work as waitresses, but who are actually destined to become prostitutes. The two men decide to save them from their tragic destiny, putting not only the success of their own voyage, but their very lives, at risk.

"Every story has a kind of little truth, and as the director, I have to find what's correct for my film. Broken Trail is about two men trying to do the right thing: a typical situation of western films. There is a kind of elegant simplicity I find in shooting a western, the way it ties into the mythical, poetic ideas that America has about itself." (W. Hill)
