An old blind man lives in a remote area of Kazakhstan, in the train station where his son works as a railway traffic controller. Trusting in his intuition and wisdom, the man controls the condition of the railroad tracks for his son, but this arrangement proves difficult each time the person responsible for measuring the tracks, who uses ultramodern technology, arrives from the city. The son thus finds himself torn between whether he should trust his father's intuition or the professionalism of the technician, well aware that the life of the passengers traveling through the area he controls depends on his decision. Zhanabek Zhetiruov
Zhanabek Zhetyruov (Kazakhstan, 1958) is graduated from Kazakh State in 1986, faculty of Philology. He then started his career as a trackman. In 1992, after finishing high courses for scriptwriters and film directors in Moscow, he directed his first short-length film, Minuses re, first title of a long series of documentaries. Notes by a Trackman is his feature debut. He is member of the Filmmakers’ Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
