In a freezing winter day, three soldiers leave their military training course without permission. They confront a group of smugglers near the border and to save their own lives, the soldiers get their offered fur hats and overcoats. They are lost in a foggy and chilly weather and they see a pregnant woman who’s been passed illegally through the border and left alone in a nowhere land by a human smuggler. The woman, unwished, accompanies the runaway soldiers and they all try to survive against the hunger and coldness of Iranian mountains. “The film, enjoying a minimalist form and content, deals with three lost men who are trying to reach their individual freedom. The film compositions imply white painting canvasses, creating some visual backgrounds in harmony with all other elements of the film, especially the narration. The severe and unbearable climatic conditions form somehow a vague ambiance and mysterious characters that eventually become part of the dominating nature.”

Naghi Nemati
(Ardebil, Iran, 1977) is a graduated of Film Directing from Soureh College of Isafahan in 2004. He works in different positions in Iranian film industry as director, screenwriter, editor, actor and director of photography. His first short-length film, Like the Umbrella of the Kids (1993), received several awards in national festivals and the following The Lost Homework (1999) and The Children’s Songs (2000) brought him several prizes, like Isfahan International Children Film Festival’s Best Short Film Award. Free Line (2005) and With Him (2006) were shown in many national and international film festivals (like
Poland and Austria). An Seh (2007) is his debut feature film.
