Devil's Angels

Country: USA
Year: 1967
Duration: 84'

The Skulls, a motorcycle gang headed by Cody, are running away from the police after killing a man. They end up in a quiet seaside town. The locals don’t want them around but let them camp out on the beach. During the night two of them bother a girl, who is forced to run away. Cody is arrested for rape and the Skulls are driven out of town. They return to get their revenge, even though Cody vainly tries to stop them.

“I get called to Cassavetes’ hotel and he says, ‘What the fuck is this shit?’ And I just say, ‘Well, we wrote it last weekend in La Hoya and I didn’t know you were going to be in it. If I’d known you were going to be in it, I would have shot myself!’ So he says, ‘Fix this, fix this, fix this’ and I fixed those and rewrote the script. The changes did suit him and his acting ability. […] Then Corman blamed me, saying I made a better motorcycle picture for Danny Haller than him. I told him no, that was Cassavetes giving orders!” (Charles B. Griffith, screenplayer)
