Nature has been razed, our gaze lose in a horizon melted between earth and sky; then it pauses, hot, in front of the mirror. A last ray flares before the darkness: and the black of the present lights up the old impressions, fragments of a past time to stake a claim on the future. “In 2005 Kodak stopped producing Kodachrome film stock, recorder of the major part of holiday films of an entire generation. I had the last roll, two years out of date, in my refrigerator and this lead me to the decision to make this work with using the marvellous Nizo S800 camera. I bought the camera, second hand, along with a bunch of holiday films shot with it, from a sale of the effects of a deceased couple. The destruction of the camera, the end of the legendary film stock become existential symbols. My new exploration on the theme of death.”

Davide Pepe
(Ceglie Messapica, Brindisi, Italy, 1970) after graduating in Communication Sciences at Bologna University where he lives since 1990, he worked as director and editor for various TV commercial, music clips and short film like Latent Spirit (2002), Che vita! (2002), Sognando, sognando (2003), Giulia (2003), and trailers for Marathon (2002) by Amir Naderi, Kukushka (2002) by Aleksandr Regozhin and Snake of June (2002) by Shinya Tsukamoto.
