Few days of life of one Kirghiz family in contemporary Moscow. In a sad and inhospitable area lives a grandmother, her daughter-inlaw, sons, and a small grandson. In their quarters, wherein kitchen area and bedroom are just divided by screens, all their hopes and sorrows are connected with one thing: the search for work. The grandmother and a fellow-countryman agree that him will find work for her younger son after accepting a bribe. The older son stares at the television, lying on a trestle bed, while his mother, exhausted from a day’s work, has a rest. The silence says everything: about work and about the future.

“The film tells about ‘strangers’ and ‘aliens’ who are absorbed by the megapolis. It’s a story about loneliness, forced obedience and a try to live their own life. Pulled out from their roots and thrown in strange lands they are unprotected and obedient. Their days are monotonous and do not differ a lot. And only in the end of the film the monotony
is about to get broken.”
