A man retraces the sizzle of his passions, annihilating himself through the dark pyrotechnics of visions and projections, while a liquid stream covers everything up, blurring profiles and distances. “Cinema/video like an inability to escape. There’s no story, only actions, geographies: History has already happened, and he was left out of it, unknowingly excluded, to his good luck and to his detriment. Having become aware of his powerlessness, he tries to build himself a vital space from which he can transport himself. The video is divided into four paragraphs, each representing a superfluous vision, an eyesight problem, a physical attempt to savor the image, a single beat of this retreat: in the end he tries to rewind his unfulfilled passions by engaging in a videotape sexual intercourse, inlaying himself in this vital battle, finally the protagonist absolute and uncompromised, but only in his eyes. The disturbances of video technology are revealing mistakes that are able to create identifications and formal fusions: the invader and the possessed dissolve themselves in this sidereal mosaic.”

Carlo Michele Schirinzi
Carlo Michele Schirinzi (Capo di Leuca, Lecce, Italy, 1974) is a video maker and artist. In 2004, his short All’erta! won an award at the Pesaro Film Festival, which then dedicated the 2005 retrospective to him. Over the years, the Torino Film Festival has presented much of his work: Astrolìte (2002), Il nido (Special Mention in 2003), Oligarchico (2007), Sonderbehandlung (2008), Notturno stenopeico (Best Italian Short in 2009), Mammaliturchi! (Special Mention in 2010), and Natura morta in giallo (2012). Eco da luogo scolpito was selected at the Venice International Film Festival. He presented his first feature film I resti di Bisanzio (2014) at Pesaro Film Festival and at Doclisboa.
