An audiovisual sample dedicated to the Puna plateau in the north of Argentina by Chile’s border: its inhabitants, its traditions, its customs, and the invasion of tourists that risks altering its appearance. Starting from the documentary material filmed during his travels, the director goes beyond mere real-time recording and, with a free and experimental language, gives life to the portrait of a land still partly unknown and, at the same time, to a manifest of digital expressive potential.

Hernàn Khourian
(La Plata, Buenos Aires, 1972) studied Audiovisual Communication in Facultad de Bellas Artes, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, where he focused on videoart and documentary. In 2000 he won the Salon Nacional de Artes Visuales de la Republica Argentina at the category Digital Art with the video Areas and in 2002 the competition for the Master on Documental Creación at Universidad Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona. With Las sabanas de Norberto (2003) he has received an award by IDFA, Amsterdam. In 2005 his documental project Los pernoctantes has been rewarded with the first award at the competition organized by Universidad del Cine.
