An experimental editing of images created by painting old newspaper pages with ink: a way to condemn history’s lies and omissions. “The memory is empty, when man gets into a state of shock. Shock of Time can also called ‘The Shock of History.’ The most important element of this work is some old papers from 1950s and 1960s. The papers recorded some important imformation of China. To me, it has become history which I can never get close to. For this reason, I can only use my work turning this history into a doubtful legend. Our conception of history is fragmentary. The conception of history more like a placebo for ourself; our conception of history has been twisted passively or voluntarily. There are lies, secrets or maybe farces behind all these things. Maybe it is just the real history. History is how we think but not what it is. We even have archeology and museum, but we continue to have regrets when we come up againts real history.”
Biography

Sun Xun
(Fuxin Liaoning Province, China, 1980) between 1997 and 2001 he followed courses at the Art Academy of Hangzhou. In the same city, between 2001 and 2005, he attended the Journalism Department. Contemporary artist, director of short films and video-installations, he began participating in 2003 to several cinematographic festivals and contemporary art exhibitions in the Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Changsha, Nanjing and Hangzhou, the city where he currently lives and works and where he established, in 2006, the p Animation Studio.
