Wim Wenders belongs to that group of directors who first started filming with a video camera: in 1980 he documented the death of his friend Nicholas Ray using a VHS camera, and he later used a digital camera for films like Buena Vista Social Club and Land of Plenty, filmed in only sixteen days thanks to the small troupe. This documentary reveals an unusual side of Wenders, who disserts enthusiastically about the “magic” potential of the video camera, talking about the passion that ties him to this type of camera and about his firm belief that it would change the way of filming movies in the future. “I was very excited and eager to hear Wim Wenders opinion of my film, when I met with him in Hamburg in the spring of 2007. Mahmoud Behraznia
(Tehran, 1946) studied chemical engineering in Germany, and worked there in the field before going on to study film. He has given seminars at the Academy for Publiztik and directed documentaries for the most important German TV broadcasts, as well as the 1999 film portrait Close Up Kiarostami about the Iranian film director, Abbas Kiarostami. He also acted in the films Baran (2001) and The Willow Tree (2005) from the Iranian film director, Majid Majidi. He also starred in the film Djomeh (2000) by Hassan Yektapanah, which won the golden Camera in Cannes 2000. He then realized the documentary Heaven’s Path (2002) which records the difficulties encountered by Jalil Nazari, another leading actor in the film Djomeh, who, while attending the Film Festival Hamburg, was forced to seek asylum because of visa problems.
