The Doorman

A documentary film crew has set out to make an insiders’ guide to the legendary New York City club scene, with its most famous gatekeeper starring as their host. Trevor has the power, he knows people, but, more importantly, he knows people who know him. After mysteriously losing his job, Trevor struggles to keep up appearances in front of the camera, while his glamorous jet-set “celebrity” lifestyle goes into an abrupt and awkward tailspin.

“The Doorman began as a joke, but has grown into something very serious. […] We figured we should create a short story about this character. The name Trevor occurred to us as completely ludicrous, as Lucas Akoskin is South American, and Trevor is an old British name. We also felt it would be funniest if Trevor told his own story. As he is a doorman, used to being in a position of power, Trevor clearly sees himself as God’s gift. Stylistically, the best way to accomplish this would be to make it a documentary, with Trevor guiding the film crew through his life.”
