The Fury

Ben Childress, a CIA agent in charge of a counter-espionage organization, fakes an assassination attempt against his friend and colleague Peter Sandza in order to kidnap the man’s son, Robin, and take advantage of the boy’s extraordinary paranormal powers. Peter survives the attempt and escapes from Childress’ men. He goes in search of his son with the help of Gillian, a girl with powers similar to Robin’s. The two go to the institute where Childress has locked Robin up and Peter discovers that the boy has gone crazy and has turned into a potentially murderous monster. It’s up to him to sacrifice his life in order to stop his son’s madness.

“I like the Kirk Douglas-John Cassavetes ‘man against man’ element. I picked John Cassavetes because he happens to play a sinister guy really well. The trouble with movies like this is the risk of falling into terribile clichés of heavies and heroes. But John is such a good actor, he was a way of turning even a cliché into a style all his own.
