Three strong-willed women with an irresistible sexual drive bring three female fantasies to life, illustrating how things would be if women were in the driver’s seat. A flirty, rebellious girl of the 1990s is the head of a harem; a queen bee reigns over a multitude of subjugated drones; and a young woman finds her own sexual emancipation during the era of disco music. “There are the die-hard fans and there are the skeptics. But I continue to be inspired by the skeptics, because they teach me so much about the assumptions people make about things, and about the deep emotional baggage that people bring to films. And this makes me feel sort of impish. After Three Examples, the skeptics came mostly in the form of derisive techies making fun of my production values, which by the way were intentionally a little raw and handmade-looking. So in response to them I made Incubus.”

Anna Biller
Anna Biller has directed musical plays such as Princess Butterfly (2001) and The Lady Cat (1995) and has completed a number of short and middle-length films, such as Three Examples of Myself as Queen (1994), Fairy Ballet (1998), The Lady Cat ( 2001), The Hypnotist (2001) and the acclaimed horror-western short A Visit from the Incubus (2001). She is known for her use of film genres, humour, the burlesque and visual excess of her films, and for her colourful stylized sets and costumes, which she creates herself. She has a BA in art from UCLA and an MFA in art and film from CalArts. In 2006 she directed her first feature film, Viva, shown at Torino Film Festival together with a selection of other works from her filmography.
