A CHI E' GIA' MORTO A CHI STA PER MORIRE

The suicides of four young people upset life in a village in Basilicata.
A fifth young man decides to make a video diary about the death of his
companions. He begins to trace their lives back in time in search of a
motivation for those absurd deaths. The departure point is a mysterious
drawing made by one of them, showing a few leafless trees in a bleak
landscape. The reconstruction of the tragic deaths leads the young man
to the point of wandering through the village by night, spooked by the
silence and the atmosphere of the place.

“I have always been attracted by the idea of doing something, at least
once in my life, in the land I come from and in which I spent, and still
spend, a good deal of my time. The motive of these deaths, the deaths
of these four young people, seems to have its roots there. It is an
existential, topographical motive, something that is profoundly tied to
the place we come from and in which we live. It has something to do
with the fact that this land, which doesn’t care much for philosophical
or religious frills, sooner or later confronts you with its reality.”
