HIGHWAY WORLD - LIVING, CHANGING, GROWING

HIGHWAY WORLD - LIVING, CHANGING, GROWING

Country: Germany
Year: 2007
Duration: 81'

A trip throughout highway worlds such as giant highway construction sites in Africa, high-tech factories of the global car manufacturing corporations, the river-spanning highways of Abuja, Bangkok’s Bang Na Express and California’s eight-lane super highways. The footage, distilled from industrial and educational films, as well as the music of Al Gromer Khan create the film’s base for an immersion into the highway spheres.

“In this film metaphors create an important stylistic meaning. The highway intersection represents the inner mental evolution of humans in the biosphere of highway world. The editing of the film is mostly done by means of graphical and sceno-graphical  connections. 63 hours of film/video plus 1.700 photos resources made it possible to
create a cyclic repetition of the footage. The assemblage of the parts of the ‘found footage’ sets the film into the discourse of human evolution within the system of highway worlds.”
